Overview and Design

The objective of this exercise was to explore a ubiquitous tool we all know, the chair. We studied how individuals interact with a tool they often overlook. My approach to this project was one of addition through restoration. I wanted to take my thrift shop chair and turn it into a piece that I could carry throughout life. Etches on the legs of the chair symbolize dates that hold special meaning to me. The vertical line resembles the stages of my life, and the horizontal lines correspond to people who have impacted my life.
